The Nutcracker
The Nutcracker is a holiday classic and one of Bella Dance Academy's favourite holiday traditions. Based on the classical Nutcracker ballet with some of our own twists and spins, BDA’s production of The Nutcracker tells the story of Clara, who receives a nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve from her uncle Drosselmeyer. That night, when she falls asleep, she journeys through a dreamlike world, battling mice, traveling through a winter wonderland filled with dancing snowflakes and angels, and the enchanting Land of Sweets, where the Sugar Plum Fairy reigns.
All dancers who want to participate in Bella Dance Academy’s 2026 production of The Nutcracker are required to audition by filling out the Audition Registration Form and attending in-person auditions on Saturday, September 19th.
Auditions are open to dancers ages 6+ of all genders, abilities, and experience levels (non-Bella Dance Academy students are welcome and encouraged to audition!).

2026 Audition Schedule - Saturday, September 19th at Bella Dance Academy
Ages 5 - 8, 5:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Ages 9 - 11, 5:45 - 6:45 p.m.
Ages 12 - 18, 6:45 - 8:00 p.m.
Adults 19+, 8:00 - 8:30 p.m
Yes, to participate in The Nutcracker (if selected from auditions), there are additional fees, as this is a production completely separate from annual classes and the Year-End Show.

Performance Fee - $205+GST / per dancer

Dancers who are double-cast (performing in only two shows) will pay a performance fee of $105 +GST per dancer.​
*Note: No Performance Fee for Adults (19+).​
Costume Charge - $50

Bella Dance Academy owns all costumes. If costumes are not returned clean and in good condition (excluding normal wear), a charge of $50 will be processed to the card on file.
