Katie Schauerte

Katie is an interdisciplinary Contemporary artist born and raised in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, the traditional land of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation.

She began her dance journey at a young age with Bella Dance Academy, joining the Bella Beats Dance Company at its creation. At 16, Katie further pursued her dance career, moving to Victoria, BC, where she stayed for six years, completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with a major in Dance at Simon Fraser University.

Over the years, Katie has returned to BDA to teach classes and is now back in Yellowknife, teaching at BDA full-time in a variety of styles.
