BDA b.class® Safer Studio - Re-opening Plan

Welcome to the b.class® Summer offerings at Bella Dance Academy!

We are SO excited to host you for summer classes and have prepared the following information to help you have a happy, healthy, and safe return to classes.

Please review before your first class for the smoothest transition back to classes. We look forward to seeing you soon!!

BDA is a Safer Studio™

  • BDA follow the More Than Just Great Dancing!® Safer Studio Guidelines which prioritize a hierarchy of safety and wellness measures including:

    • Wellness checks for staff

    • Frequent hand hygiene and good respiratory hygiene

    • Enhanced cleaning procedures

    • Minimizing mixing and mingling via social distancing practices

    • Curricular and facility adjustments

    • Gradual re-opening and continuous client communications.

  • Please see below for the specific way BDA is applying these guidelines for the b. Class®.

 

Wellness Checks 

  • All b. Class® leaders and studio staff members will receive regular and continuing safety training as it relates to preventing community spread of COVID-19.

  • All staff members are wellness checked before their shift.

  • Participants are asked to not attend class if they, or a member of their household:

    • have a fever or respiratory symptoms (please refer to attached checklist)

    • have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

    • has returned from travel outside of the NWT within the last 14 days. 

 

Frequent Hand Hygiene & Good Respiratory Hygiene

  • Employees will wash hands and/or sanitize before and after each class.

  • Hand sanitizing stations will be available outside the entrance of each studio utilized for classes, as well as inside of the classroom. 

  • Clients will be encouraged to wash hands and/or sanitize before and after classes.

  • Handwashing posters are posted within bathrooms and classrooms.

  • Proper respiratory practises for staff and students will be encouraged: 

    • Coughing into elbow or into a tissue

    • Throwing the tissue directly in the garbage after use, then washing hands

 

Enhanced Cleaning & Maintenance Procedures

  • We have increased our cleaning frequencies and sanitation procedures in high traffic areas and high touch surfaces of the studio such as doors, viewing windows, barres, floors, counters, stereos, and bathrooms.

  • We have installed all new HVAC filters throughout the facility to improve the air quality and reduce contamination. Intakes and returns will be cleaned frequently.

 

Minimized Mixing and Mingling

  • We have made facility, scheduling, and curricular changes to reduce mixing and mingling in support of social distancing recommendations.  

    • At this time, the b. Class® will be scheduled as the only class running at one time (no other students, clients or staff will be on the premises during the b. Class®)

    • Participants will not be able to enter the studio until 5 minutes prior to the class starting, and must maintain physical distancing guidelines while waiting in our parking lot (either stay in your vehicles, or close to until our front door opens), throughout classes, as well as when travelling in common spaces - such as our foyer and hallways. 

    • All participants must leave the building within 5 minutes of the class ending. 

 

Registration

  • Classes will run on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 6:00 - 7:00pm.

  • Clients need to pre-register for classes with a 12 client max for each class.

  • Drop-ins are prohibited at this time.

  • Clients need to complete and sign a wellness/self assessment check and waiver before each class (through our online registration program). 

  • Clients can register for open classes HERE 

  • All payments will be accepted online only. 

  • Clients are able to use existing punch passes.

 

Facility & Curricular Adjustments

  • All lobby waiting areas, kitchen area, children’s play spaces, student study areas, locker rooms, business offices, staff room, etc will be closed unless specified.

  • Please bring full water bottles. Drinking fountains will not be available.

  • Clients will bring all belongings with them into the studio - so please leave all extras in your car, or at home. 

    • You will receive a sanitized bin to house your keys, phone, wallet during class. 

    • Please place your bin around the parameter of the room in a designated space. 

  • Please arrive in your workout clothes. Bathrooms will be available for toileting only, but not for changing clothes.

  • There are no mat rentals at this time, please bring your own yoga mat to class. 

  • Class sizes have been modified to reflect current territorial recommendations (our class sizes will be no larger than 12 plus 1-2 leaders), and no exceptions will be made to these limits. 

  • Class sizes have been modified to reflect a 6-foot social distancing pattern and floors will have markers to help students maintain boundaries as much as possible.

  • Use of fans is prohibited during this time. 

 

Arrival & Departure

  • Please enter using the Old Airport Road main entrance for all arrivals. 

  • A b.class® leader will be outside to greet you. 

  • At the end of class, participants will use the front studio door for departure.

  • At this time, only b.class® clients are welcome, please do not bring children with you to class. 

 

Bathroom Use

  • We encourage all clients to use the restroom at home before coming to class.

  • Bathroom facility use will be limited to the one front unisex bathroom for this session of classes and will be cleaned before and after each class. 

  • Bathrooms will not be available as change rooms - clients need to arrive in workout apparel. 

 

Masks

  • Mask wearing for staff, students and parents is at personal/parental discretion.

 

Gradual Re-Opening & Continuous Client Communication

  • Please visit studio website and join our b. Class® Yellowknife (Bella Dance Academy) Private Facebook page beginning July 6 where you will find a stop and go light icon that clearly indicates the status of classes: Green indicates it is safe to attend face-to-face classes. Yellow indicates a cautionary change to service delivery. Red indicates clients should stay home and classes will be cancelled for the time being.
